Alone
Silence settles in
as night begins to cover
fields streams trees
wait with hushed anticipation
what will the darkness bring?
fireflies flicker
a silent message
a code known only to them
In the air a current
of undetectable origin
stirs the owl from his slumber
"whooo whooo" he cries
into the air
he awaits
but receives no answer
